Profile

Moock Environmental Solutions Ltd, based in Cumbernauld, Scotland, was founded in 1999 and started as a Research and Development company specialising in the recycling of electronic and electrical waste. In 1999 the Company secured a SMART:SCOTLAND award for a programme to develop an innovative process for the removal of hazardous metals from electronic waste.

This R&D work is still the basis of the company's current main business activity, the recycling of ink-jet cartridges, which is a novel process in the UK. The company is expanding into this emerging recycling market by introducing a new semi-automatic process, as well as by the development of a recycling process for toner cartridges.

The company handles all end-of-life IT equipment in accordance with national and European legislation and actively seeks the best practicable environmental option when considering recycling routes for recovered materials.

The Company now employs 6 people, and continues to invest in research, having spent over £ 50,000 on R&D in 2002. Current R&D activities are focusing on the environmental sector with projects concerned with the recovery of chromium from contaminated land, and the development, in cooperation with industry partners, of an eco-friendly anti-fouling coating for the marine sector.

The company has Quality Management ISO 9001 and the full Environmental Management System ISO 14001 accreditation is expected for January 2004.
